Besides the many sports and entertainment
options offered on the beach, there are lots of places to visit
and enjoy nearby.
Campeche Island
The island is 1.2 mile (2 km) far from the beach.
Besides the beautiful landscapes, the island has valuable archeological
sites, with bedrock milling stations, caves, and a paradisiacal
flora and fauna.

| There you can enjoy all sorts of activities:
swimming in the crystal clear water, diving, going for a guided
ecological trekking all over the island, having lunch at local
restaurants and having some quality time all day long.
You can go to the Island by boat. There are
boats on Armação Beach, Pântano do Sul Beach
or Barra da Lagoa at affordable rates.
Lagoa do Peri
This is a special place to go with your family.
It is a quiet and lovely lagoon that you should visit when you
are in Florianópolis.
It is located on a 8.8 square miles (23 km²)
park in the rain forest with paths that take you to beautiful
waterfalls in the middle of the forest.

The main building has infrastructure available
for you to stay all day long: public toilets, picnic amenities,
80 barbecue grills, a bar and a cafeteria, parking with capacity
for 200 cars and a playground.
You can enjoy a sailboat ride, kayaking, canoeing
and other great water sports. Fishing with rods is allowed.
Lagoa da Conceição
This is one the most beautiful postcards of
Santa Catarina Island. By the lagoon you can find many entertainment
options and have fun.
Near the ancient bridge – which links
the North part to the South part of the lagoon – you will
find a mall, night clubs, dozens of restaurants specialized in
azorean cuisine and seafood, coffee shops and complete infrastructure
with gas station, newsstand, tobacco shops, video rental store
and many, many shops, where you can buy souvenirs, clothes, art
craft, etc.
The salty water lagoon is a great spot to go
with your family. The beaches are shallow and quiet. There you
can play water sports, visit the dunes and the sightseeing observatory
up on the hill, with a wonderful view of the Lagoon and the Atlantic
Ocean.
From the Lagoon you can go to Joaquina Beach,
Mole Beach, Barra da Lagoa Beach and to the North of the Island.
Sul da Ilha
This part of Santa Catarina Island is wilder
and uninhibited. Pristine beaches, fisherman villages, all of
these you can find there: Campeche Beach, Morro das Pedras Beach,
Armação Beach, Matadeiro Beach, Pântano do
Sul Beach, Solidão Beach, and Naufragados Beach. Some of
these spots are only accessible by boat or trails.
Also in the South of the Island there is a lovely
azorean village: Ribeirão da Ilha, which preserves traces
of Portuguese colonization in all architectural aspects and people's
traditions. Visiting the narrow streets with ancient colored houses
is like going back to the past.
Downtown
Hercílio Luz Bridge is located downtown.
There you can find the Mercado Público (Public Market),
and Alfândega Square, traditional spots to be visited. There
are also interesting museums, squares, churches and theaters.
|
|
Bus Station, Local Bus Terminal (Terminal Urbano)
and the Convention Hall are also located downtown. The narrow
streets, large avenues and alleys are full of crowded shops, supermarkets,
coffee shops and night clubs.
Heading to the North of the Island, you will
find the Mall (Shopping Beira-Mar) and Centro Integrado de Cultura
(CIC - a complex of Movie Theaters, Theaters and Art Exhibition
Gallery).
